American actor Richard Dean Anderson famous for playing MacGyver harshly criticized the president of the United States, Donald Trump, this Saturday during a conference at the San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, in southern Spain, where he called him a “bastard.”

During a talk about his career and life, Anderson, 76, began by apologizing for the president they have and spoke about him again when asked about his passion for animals. The actor launched these epithets against Trump because he considered that he does “very little” to help people, animals or the environment.

Richard Dean Anderson remembers the end of MacGyver

About his role in the series MacGyver which aired successfully between 1985 and 1992, Anderson said he wasn’t angry when it ended because at the time he was “a little burned out.”

“I had already reached my limit and I had also injured myself quite a bit,” said the actor.

It was the ABC network that made the decision to end the series, something that didn’t feel “too bad” to Anderson because he was tired. The actor did not have doubles and performed the action scenes, although they did have advisors from technical centers who helped them execute them.

Anderson also admitted that he “didn’t even remotely” imagine that his character would become so successful and that, when he started the series, he didn’t have many expectations.

But the success was immediate and the production was renewed each season until completing seven, which made the producers change their minds about him and consider that he was capable of sustaining the project.

Of MacGyver to stargate

Then came the role of Jack O’Neill in stargatein which, before accepting, he made it clear that he could not play the same type of character that Kurt Russell played in the original 1994 film.

“They had to allow me to be that character in my own way,” he recalled.

Anderson starred on the series from 1997 to 2005 and left at the beginning of the ninth season to spend more time with her daughter, because she thought “there was nothing worth missing out on.”

Asked if MacGyver and O’Neill could work together, Anderson said he thinks so and that the two would get along well. However, he added ironically:

“MacGyver would think O’Neill is a joke… How do you take a guy like that seriously?”
